I remember watching the Back to the Future movies, the second one in particular with the flying cars in the year 2015, and thinking, I can’t wait till we don’t have to drive normal cars! Hey, I was only 6 when it came out! We may not have flying cars, yet, but technology is getting interesting with the concept of a driverless vehicle. We see it now in vehicles with handsfree parking, sensors and gps, and the ATNMBL takes it a few steps further. Mike and Maaike, two industrial designers out of San Francisco have come up with a rather interesting idea for a car that essentially does all the work for you. From the time you enter the car, which is set up more like a small living room, you are greeted with with, “where can I take you” and away you go. The idea: to have the ATNBML, short for Autonomobile, assist in everyday activity when it comes to cars. Their thought is that you can use your ATNBML to work for you, and could even drop you off and park itself, or continue as a carpool vehicle dropping off you and 6 others. Some of the features include a sliding glass door, seating for 7, floor to ceiling windows for great views and an on board GPS that knows everything, all by the year 2040. An interesting concept, but would you get into a car that you had no control over?
