And Im back!

Things sure have changed in my place.  Upon returning from a week away, I was greeted with Fed Ex boxes and a garden that is growing at a rapid pace! It is great to be back in the blogging world, but boy a little while away and there is just so much to catch up on and someone (aka me) has to get this place back into some kind of order.  Yesterday the husband (is it strange that I literally made a ‘glee’ sound while typing that?) and I took to the garden, pruning, watering and we even added a small fence for our climbing cucumbers!  After a while I left him to the dirty work and started the dreaded unpacking/cleaning frenzy that I am estimating at least a weeks worth of work… day 2 and it looks like I have barely made a dent!  So for today, I am leaving you with some photos I took this morning in the garden.

A while back, I had written about our new patio and it is slowly  becoming a great place to hang out.  Instead of purchasing all new furniture, we jumped on the scooter and rode around town through alleys and side streets to find what we could reuse for our space, it was a great way to save money and recycle!  We found a low marble coffee table that we now use as a bench and a storage cabinet and bookcase we use to store potted plants.  A few cheap plastic pots and couple cans of spray paint and we were ready to go!  We did however add a few strands of lights for night time entertaining and even hosted our first cocktail party outside!

So please, bare with me as I get settled into married life and as usual, I am always glued to twitter, so be sure to follow me and say hi!

With just a little summer left to go, stores are starting to have all their end of the summer sales, and I am loving the sale over at Cost Plus. There are so many great finds, from casual/outdoor entertaining to decorative and colorful items for your home, with 425 items to look through, you are bound to find something. Just a few outdoor items I am wishing I owned now that I have an outdoor area! (Pictures of the work in progress on the patio soon!)

Bamboo Plates are a great option for outdoor or casual entertaining.  These are made from organic bamboo and are biodegradable.

Bamboo 'paper' plates

I don’t know how many times I have worried about my glass table getting nicked when we have company, and I couldn’t imagine what I would worry about with a party tub.  Luckily, this one is made out of acrylic, making it perfect for indoor and outdoor use.  Another must have is the Acrylic Pitcher, sturdy enough for parties and pretty enough for everyday use.

And of course, a tray or two for serving makes entertaining even easier.  Loving the White Washed Floral Tray, and its on sale!

I don’t know how I missed this one, but a thank you to Evan for leading me over to Notcot’s post on Woolly Pockets.  Thanks to being sick, I missed out on Dwell on Design, but am so happy to see everything through other bloggers out there!  And these planters from Woolly Pocket are perfect, for well, anyone.  These cute pockets have two main parts, a breathable felt and moisture barrier.  The felt is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles and the moisture barrier is made using 60% recycled plastic bottles and is held together with nylon thread.  This process will make your plants love you as the roots will be allowed to “air prune”, meaning it will stop rooting and keep from circling itself like in everyday planters.  And they are just plain nice to look at!  There are two different versions available, a standing “pot” that you can move anywhere or a hanging planter, perfect for keeping the floors uncluttered and adding some greenery to those boring walls.  Starting at $29, there is a planter for everyones price point!  Gotta love that!

There is nothing like a living plant to cheer any room up, and a plant in the new Pod Planters from Pad Outdoor, are even better.  Made from recycled hand spun aluminum with a powder coat finish, these pods come in 6 different colors and there are two designs to choose from.  Plus, there are also feel available so you can put a few together and create beautiful foliage. Although they are not out yet… I can’t wait to check it out at the A+R store down the street (I am lucky enough to be within walking distance from the store!) after their official release days.  The pods will be unveiled at the Dwell on Design show June 26-27.

I just love browsing through Flickr, there are so many talented people out there.  Some days I search specific things like today in my search of all things cheery, found these beautiful flowers.  Other days its way more general like “color” or “airy”, yeah thats a searchable term and quite interesting shots come up.  Anyway, I am loving the shots taken by Moa Maria.  Each photo is just so vibrant and the subject matter is great.  You can find tons of great shots at her photostream or check out her blog, Moa Maria.

Extra space

How amazing would it be to have an extra outdoor pod to serve as an office or extra living space… pretty amazing.  Not only are these Roost’s pleasing on the eye, they are very eco friendly.  With three different options, oval, aluminium and stealth, these guys have a style for everyone.  My favorite is the oval roost, not only does it have a great office size but the roof is actually meant to hold a garden of grass on top… something I would die for!  Now about that price…..
