For most of us out there (hello bloggers!) our business cards are a major way of getting our name out there, and there have been so many times when I am out and about and need to pull out my card only to reveal my very plain mirrored holder.  I have been looking to spruce up the look for a while now, and am just loving these little guys from How About Orange! Made from cotton canvas and sewn with love, these wallets for your business cards are perfect to whip out at your next networking extravaganza!  I might just have to get a few.  Stop on by her shop for lots of colorful goodies.

Tomorrow, August 2nd is the 33rd anual Festival of chariots. I look forward to this every year.

Hare Krishnas Chariot

It all starts with the Chariot parade down main street starting from the Santa Monica Civic auditorium, where followers celebrate an ancient pilgrimage .

The Festival celebrates Lord Krishna’s return to Vrindaban and is held annually in the months of June-July to honor Lord Jagannatha, which means Lord of the Universe. Lord Jagannatha is a particular Deity form of Lord Krishna, fashioned from neem wood and brightly painted. The residents of Puri have been worshipping this form for many centuries. Five hundred years ago, Lord Chaitanya, the most merciful incarnation of Lord Krishna used to daily visit Lord Jagannatha in the temple and see Him in a mood of intense separatiol

The parade makes its way down Main street to Venice beach where a free vegetarian feast is waiting. Along with other festivities crafts for kids, live performances and music, Lectures and , did I mention more food?

Check me out, I am a whole day early on upcoming events for this weekend and boy is there a lot out there.  If you are in the west L.A area, you might want to stop by Royal T this Saturday August 1st from 3-9 for a Candy Land Lolita Tea Party.  If you have never been to Royal T, I highly recommend it.  Last year, I stopped by their Pecha Kucha event and loved it!  Not only are the events well done, but the actual space is a sight to see.  Part art gallery, part gift shop and part cafe, Royal T is awesome.  This weekend, they will house the Candy Land Lolita Tea Party and will include a fashion show, jewelry and dolls from The Valley of the Dolls, raffles, cupcake and cotton candy stands and live music.  Oh, and did I mention its Free?  All you need to do is rsvp!

Not quite your thing?  Then may I suggest stopping by the Blogger Shop Day 2 over at Space 15 Twenty in L.A on Sunday, August 2.  On hand will be vendors selling vintage wares, fashions from Japan and Hong Kong, Neal’s special traveling flea market van (I have no idea what that is, but is sounds fun!), bbq, live music and guest DJ Heather Gram, and with over 40 vendors, there has got to be something for everyone!  So, get your shop on, grab some food and rock out with Heather.  And, of course, its Free!  You can check out their facebook page and rsvp here.

It may be a little early, but if you are in the West L.A area August 8th, be sure to check out the Designer Tag Sale going on in Venice. Hosted by Amy Swift of Smarty, the event will feature over 10 L.A designers selling items from their inventories and nothing will be over $200!  Included will be tables, lighting, accessories and you may even find some lucky finds as low as $5!!  You can also get a mini consultation or appraisals from designers themselves, and if you are one of the first 30 people to attend, there is a gift bag in your future.  And if that weren’t enough incentive, there will also be a DJ getting everyone in the mood, beauty treatments, appetizers and liquor.  Entry fee is $10, and you could walk out with HUGE savings.  I wish I could stop by, but will have to imaging all the fun while I am at my bridal shower, so stop by for me!!  For more details, be sure to check out the Going event info.
