I just love to see that more and more creative people are getting in on crafts and Claire Coles is one creative person!  Based out of London, Claire has developed a rather beautiful way of embroidering wallpaper and porcelain, turning them into even bigger works of art.  I just can’t stop admiring all her handy work!  Simply beautiful.  For her wallpapers and illustrations, she cuts layers and machine stitches some pretty intricate patterns and scenes.  And, my favorite, Claire’s porcelain tea cups are gorgeous!   To get the look, she actually hand embroiders each stitch or places an inlaid with doilies and wallpaper.  Genius.

Going to be in L.A June 26-28 and totally into interior design, be sure to check out CA BOOM in Beverly Hills.  What is it exactly?  Open to everyone, this weekend event packs great exhibitors with their newest products, collections and projects all under one roof.  You can find everything from actual firms showing off their amazing designs to small business with all the newest trends in design.  There is even going to be a prefab home on display just outside the venue and Coolhous, the uber cool ‘prefab’ ice cream sandwich company will be on hand serving their architectural treats.

This year, there will be a tour of the Stahl House, a case study home built in 1959 and holds the title of being one of the top 10 houses in Los Angeles.  A portion of ticket sales go toward preserving the home.

There are many times when browsing through artists and designers portfolios that I think to myself, ‘if that were only for sale’.  Well, with Kristoffer Fagerstrom Architecture & Design, I really wish I could get my hands on some of their work!  Not only is it good to look at, their work has a very modern feel that I absolutely love!

This stool is actually hand drawn using a black pen.  I can only imagine how long this took to cover the whole thing!

While browsing through 2Jane, I started to realize there was so much that I liked!  I love their different types of products, including their line of paint by number wallpaper.  I have a long time love of paint by number, when I was little, my grandmother and I would sit at the dining table and paint, by number, for hours!  To see it for the walls makes me want to whip out a cheap set of paint with a brush with only 10 hairs!  (For those out there that have ever painted one of these, you know exactly what Im talking about!).  Anyway, a few things that I wouldn’t mind finding a place for in my house.

And they have the Tilly the Flying Dog paint by number wallpaper!  I actually got a sample of this years ago to talk about it to my materials class in college!  Although mine was from Europe!  Can’t believe they are still making this print.

I am always a sucker for fun, graphic wallpaper and Mini Moderns has a small but creative line of wallpapers that are quite eye catching.  Not only are they great to look at on their own, but you can also color in your own palette with their ‘snow’ color option.  Also available with the same images: tableware, totes, pillows and cushions.

Paper all around

I just love wallpaper, although strangely enough haven’t had a room with it since I was a kid.  Anyway, French American, a new company based out of Los Angeles has introduced their newest line of papers.  From left to right: Rialto Grille in honey yellow on salmon rose, Dragoon in nomad and sand, and Pigeon Boheme in warm olive and white mylar

Trove, a wallcovering company based out of Chicago really puts the details in their work.  All their papers are intricately designed, each pattern comes in several different colorways.  And, it seems they will be introducing a line of window film too!
